Identified hosts?
The interviewer was identified as Tamsin Bishton

Explained what the show is about?
The mission of an organization called ‘Here’ was explained. Who was going to be interviewed was explained as well.

Time to topic
<2 mins. perfect.

Show structure/type
This was an interview with Ruth Anslow from hiSbe.

Topic(s) discussed
-hiSbe, a supermarket that is changing the industry by helping people afford well sourced food | the history of hiSbe and it’s mission | building business despite setbacks | cash flow management | learning about yourself vs business | raising funding for a new store | crowdfunding | the future of hiSbe, food and health | Ruth’s optimism for the world despite the obvious negativity

Audio quality:
Needs work. See recommendation section below. I had to turn the volume down after the intro. It was hard to clearly hear the Tamsin at times.

Passion/personality
Ruth seemed very knowledgeable about supermarkets, food and business in general. Her energy while answering the questions showed her passion. I couldn’t really hear Tamsin, but her tone made me feel like she enjoyed speaking with Ruth. I would inject a bit more energy into Tamsin though.

Gave out socials/site(s)?
The website for ‘Here’ was mentioned before the interview and once after the interview. However, the host didn’t give out her social username or the Ruth’s. I’ve provided the links below.

Gave out schedule?
No. So I’m not sure when to expect the next episode

Mentioned Hashtag?
No.

Summary
I get the vibe that this show is more about Here, the organization than it is about Tamsin. I feel like Here will eventually rotate interviewers. Here’s why:
Instead of Tamsin doing an intro, the intro was done by someone else who didn’t introduce herself, but instead introduced Tamsin. Does that make sense?

In other words, here’s what the format looked like (in my head):
Intro – conducted by unknown person. this person introduced Tamsin
Interview – conducted by Tamsin
Outro – not sure if it was Tamsin or the voice from the beginning again. this person closed the show.
Update: Tasmin let me know via Twitter that she was the intro and outro voice.

I feel like, in the future, the unknown voice will intro different interviewers.
With that being said, I think this was a good episode. I think other growing entrepreneurs, local business patrons in Brighton, employees at Here and those in the food business could benefit from a listen. I also think Ruth was a great first guest to highlight. This podcast will definitely support and help market Here’s purpose. I think so many more organizations should be doing podcasts to benefit their shareholders.

Show Note Thoughts
Some might argue that the show notes for this episode were a bit lengthy. However, I would say they were absolutely necessary because they summed up EXACTLY why Here chose Ruth as an interviewee. Many times, new podcasters just interview any and everyone without rhyme or reason. Here has some deep rooted values that align with hiSbe’s and used the podcast to highlight that in Ruth.

One fault I found with the show notes was the lack of links to Ruth and Tamsin. There were links to hiSbe’s site and links to the author of the show notes and said author’s blog (which is on the Here site). Note to new podcasters, many times, after a podcast episode, folks want to reach out and say “hey I just heard you on…” or “hey, great interview with…”.  Make it easy for them to do so. All isn’t lost though because Zoey (the show notes author) can just update the notes.

Recommendation
The audio is definitely an issue. I could barely hear Tamsin and overall they had the “sitting in an empty room sharing one mic source” sound going on. I would suggest getting a very basic set up going forward. If the producer of the podcast plans to have the interviewer travel to different businesses, then they’ll need to have a mobile set up. They might want to look into a Zoom H6 or a TASCAM and a couple of mics, XLR cables and some stands (Amanda from NPR has a TASCAM in her mobile set up). I think this is a pretty affordable (for an organization) set up. On the flip-side, if they don’t plan to have the interviewer travel, then they could set up a mini podcast studio in their building/office/headquarters. If they opt for the mobile set up, they can actually use that for the mini studio and then take it with them when it’s time to hit the road. Or they can go with a basic mixer and computer set up.
